Meg Artley
I was fortunate to have a physician recommend Hatha Yoga to me over 15 years ago as a way to navigate a chronic illness. Since then, my practice has not only brought me healing; it has also brought me joy, community, and a deeper sense of purpose and service.
I stepped into my first class at Tranquil Space over ten years ago at the Arlington studio, which at that time a belly dance studio on Wilson Boulevard. I knew the moment I finished my first class I had come to a place that would positively effect the rest of my life. Wanting to share the self-empowerment and healing of yoga with others, I became a yoga teacher, completing my 200 hour program in 2012 and my 300 hour in 2018 at Tranquil Space.
My teaching practice became an extension of my yoga practice. I took on more classes, teaching 7 classes at both Arlington and Dupont studios until 2020. After a 20 year career in fundraising, I took the leap into a full-time career in yoga in 2016, becoming the last Dupont Studio Manager, a role I filled until a year after TS was sold to YogaWorks. In addition to teaching Vinyasa and Yoga 1 practitioners, I began to teach in a 200 hour program Teacher Training program at Refresh Yoga Center in Alexandria (owned by fellow TS Teacher Training grad Lindsey Canaley), and currently direct this program. I teach from the sense of connection to my true self, to others, and to the community. I believe that yoga is for everybody and every body.
