Social Justice Sangha
On Sunday, June 6th, the TSTC social justice sangha got together for the first time since crafting our social justice statement, to begin talking about Susanna Barkataki's book Embrace Yoga's Roots: Courageous Ways to Deepen Your Practice. It was a wide-ranging discussion that ended with this provocative question posed by Lauren Borchard: Should I be teaching yoga, and if yes, is what I am teaching yoga?
If you're interested in this question and its possible answers, join us on Wednesday, July 14th at 7 p.m. for a revolutionary sangha in honor of Bastille Day as we delve deeper into the thorny issue of cultural appropriation in yoga and challenge each other to consider how our practices as students and teachers can serve the social justice movement.

Social Justice Sangha
Please join the TSTC social justice sangha in deepening our Yoga practices with a discussion of Embrace Yoga’s Roots by Susanna Barkataki. Registration is pay-what-you-can, but any amount you can contribute will go directly to support covid relief efforts in India (thank you to our friends Annie and Amir at Sun & Moon Yoga Studio here in the DMV for curating this list!), which is buckling under its latest pandemic surge. This event will be led by Linette Hwu and Carol Collins. Please read our latest blog post for more context.
